This Privacy Policy describes how Salty Sailor Software ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Starlink Ocean Mode mobile application (the "App"), distributed on the Google Play Store. Salty Sailor Software is operated by Fred Bret-Mounet.
We have designed the App to respect your privacy. The App does not sell or share your personal information. Your personal data is processed entirely on your device. The App transmits only anonymous, non-identifying diagnostic information to our hosting provider, as described in the "Diagnostic Data" section below.
The App runs entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that receive personal information from the App, and we do not embed third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

The App does access location data on your device to deliver its core feature, as described in the next section.
The Starlink Ocean Mode app uses your device's precise location, including in the background, to calculate your distance to the nearest coastline and to the 12 nautical mile territorial waters boundary. This location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. Background location access is used so the app can alert you when you cross the boundary even when the screen is off.
You can revoke location access at any time in your device's system settings. Doing so will disable boundary alerts but the rest of the app will continue to function.
The App sends anonymous diagnostic information to our hosting provider (Expo, expo.dev) on each launch to help us monitor app stability and adoption. This includes only:

The App may save settings, preferences, or content you create locally on your device so the App can function across sessions. This data stays on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party. You can remove it at any time by clearing the App's data through your device's system settings or by uninstalling the App.
If the App requests an Android permission, it is used solely to deliver the feature you are interacting with on your device. No data accessed via permissions is transmitted off your device by us.
Because the App processes all data locally on your device and does not transmit personal information to our servers, your data is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (passcode, biometric lock, sandboxed app storage). We do not maintain servers that store user data.
The App uses Expo (expo.dev) as its hosting and update provider, which receives the anonymous diagnostic information described above. The App does not integrate third-party advertising networks or cross-app tracking services. The App is distributed through the Google Play Store, and Google may independently collect information related to app installation, updates, and crashes as described in Google's Privacy Policy. That collection is governed by Google, not by us.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Families policy.

If we change how the App handles information — for example, by adding a feature that transmits data — we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date above before the change takes effect.
